It must be in a month, but I see nothing here

«I see nothing here, but a round thing made of gold, and whoever raises a certain whale, this round thing belongs to him. So, what’s all this staring been about? It is worth sixteen dollars, that’s true; and at two cents the cigar, that’s nine hundred and sixty cigars.

I won’t smoke dirty pipes like Stubb, but I like cigars, and here’s nine hundred and sixty of them; so here goes Flask aloft to spy ‘em out.» What says the Cannibal? As I live he’s comparing notes; looking at his thigh bone; thinks the sun is in the thigh, or in the calf, or in the bowels, I suppose, as the old women talk Surgeon’s Astronomy in the back country.

«There’s another rendering now; but still one text. All sorts of men in one kind of world, you see. Dodge again! here comes Queequeg—all tattooing—looks like the signs of the Zodiac himself.

He luffs up before the doubloon; halloa, and goes round on the other side of the mast; why, there’s a horse-shoe nailed on that side; and now he’s back again; what does that mean? Hark! he’s muttering—voice like an old worn-out coffee-mill. Prick ears, and listen!»

Leatherhead

I and my wife stood amazed. Then I realised that the crest of Maybury Hill must be within range of the Martians’ Heat-Ray now that the college was cleared out of the way. At that I gripped my wife’s arm, and without ceremony ran her out into the road. Then I fetched out the servant, telling her I would go upstairs myself for the box she was clamouring for.

We can’t possibly stay here, I said; and as I spoke the firing reopened for a moment upon the common. «But where are we to go?» said my wife in terror. I thought perplexed. Then I remembered her cousins at Leatherhead.

Leatherhead! I shouted above the sudden noise. She looked away from me downhill. The people were coming out of their houses, astonished. «How are we to get to Leatherhead?» she said.
Stop here,» said

Down the hill I saw a bevy of hussars ride under the railway bridge; three galloped through the open gates of. You are safe here!

Me, Myself and I

and I started off at once for the Spotted Dog, for I knew the landlord had a horse and dog cart. I ran, for I perceived that in a moment everyone upon this side of the hill would be moving. I found him in his bar, quite unaware of what was going on behind his house. A man stood with his back to me, talking to him.

Some lists

  • down the hill I saw a bevy of hussars ride under the railway bridge; three galloped through the open gates of the Oriental College;
  • two others dismounted, and began running from house to house.
  • the sun, shining through the smoke that drove up from the tops of the trees,
  • seemed blood red, and threw an unfamiliar lurid light upon everything.
